1 — House Information
WIFI
Wi-Fi is available with boosters throughout the house and by the pool. Note that bandwidth is rather limited to the island and at peak periods can slow down. However, most of the time decent speeds should be available. 5G is also widely available on most networks.

Water
During the busy summer months, like many Greek islands Paxos can experience water shortages due to limited natural resources and increased demand. There is no water spring on Paxos. Rain water is collected during the winter months, stored in water tanks or desalinated by the Municipality. Please use water sparingly as this is a precious commodity and often in short supply, even from the Municipality. Please be aware that your water consumption has a strong impact on the sustainability and environment on Paxos. Please never let the water flow unattended.
We kindly ask all visitors to be mindful of their water usage—take shorter showers, avoid unnecessary laundry, and turn off taps when not in use. By conserving water, you’re helping to protect the island’s delicate environment and ensuring there’s enough to go around for everyone. Thank you for being a considerate guest and helping us keep Paxos sustainable and beautiful.
Drinking water
It is not advisable to drink water from the tap, it is however suitable for brushing your teeth, and cooking (if boiled). Do use bottled water for tea, coffee, and ice cubes.
Outdoor Lights and Pool Lights
These are on a timer and will turn on automatically at 21:00. They will switch off at 1:00 am.
TV

Bluetooth Speaker

Portable Fridge/ Freezer
Dual zone Compressor fridge freezer (42litre): this is a very nice piece and functions as a portable dual zone fridge/freezer. It plugs in to get down to the desired temperature and can then be brought down on its wheels to the pool area or wherever else. Works really well, to keep those drinks ice cold!
Laundry
The laundry room has a Morris large washing machine and drier that can be used anytime. Please be mindful of the water and put on full loads when possible using the quick setting. There is also an ironing board and iron. There is a portable clothes steamer in the pantry. https://steamery.co.uk/
Temperature Cool Rooms
The house does not have air conditioning units (other than the outhouse) to maintain the traditional appearance of the house. Instead, a modern air cooling system provides, quiet and very effective temperature control throughout the house. This is managed through individual sensors and wall mounted control pads in each room. https://www.daikin.co.uk. In the outhouse we have a floor-standing AC unit.
Marble Work Tops / Kitchen
Throughout the kitchen in the main house and outhouse we have used traditional white marble tops and reclaimed vintage sinks. These are very beautiful and hard-wearing; however, they do stain with lemon juice and other citrus fruits. Therefore, please use a chopping board when cutting these fruits rather than directly onto the marble surface.
BBQ
You may use the Webber gas BBQ in the outside kitchen. Gas BBQs must be used with extreme caution by experienced operators only. Please turn off the gas when not using. There pizza hot plates for super-crispy bases and special casserole dishes for slow cooking.
Pool
Please familiarise yourself with the pool, its layout, depths and sloping areas. Never swim in the pool after drinking alcohol or too soon after eating. Please remember that the surrounding areas do become slippery when wet. Children should never be left unattended when playing in or around the pool. Never dive into the pool. Maintenance of the pool is carried out according to necessity.
Please note: Outside and around the pool please ONLY use the non-breakable glasses and plates that are provided. Things smash very easily with all the stone everywhere and it causes a lot of problems having broken glass and sharp shards of ceramic on the ground that can be difficult to clear up completely.
Parasols
Please leave these closed when not is use and when leaving the property. This is to prevent any damage caused by wind. Leaving them open and unattended also poses a safety risk.
Table Tennis
The outdoor table tennis is available for your use. There are a selection of bats and outside balls (slightly heavier) in the green metal trunk stored by the table.
Board Games
There is a selection of classic board games and chess available. These are stored on the bookshelves at the top of the first-floor landing. There is also a collection of adult and children’s books available. You are welcome to read the books but please do not take them away with you.
Stand Up Paddle (SUP)
You may use the SUP board. Please be considerate when packing it away and take care to avoid punctures when inflating and deflating on the pebbly beaches. Younger kids should be supervised at all times and although there are no tides on Paxos, the winds can pick up so do be mindful. The bag and pump are all located in the outside storage shed. (please ask Dora).
Rad-Runner E-bike:
There is an electric bike available for your use. The bike has been fully serviced but please use this at your own risk and given the steep hills, and narrow winding roads of Paxos would only recommend it be used by experienced, regular cyclists! The bike battery charging cables are situated in the outside storage shed (please ask Dora)

Please take time to familiarise yourself with the emergency exit routes located nearest to your bedroom.

Mirela is the housekeeper and she will be with you for a few hours in the mornings from approx.9:00 am- 14:00. She has one day off on Mondays. Mirela is responsible for the bedrooms, bathrooms, keeping outdoor areas swept and tidy and taking away rubbish. Personal laundry and ironing are charged as extra at €15 per hour. Please make your Scott Williams concierge aware if these services are required. And please also keep any personal laundry to a minimum due to water supply issues on the island.
Linen and Towels
Water shortage is a huge issue for the island so we are doing what we can to ensure we keep water use to a reasonable level. If you are renting the house for more than a week, your bed linen will be changed each Saturday. There will be a mid week towel change on Wednesday. If there is a reason why you need linen or towels changed more frequently, please speak with Dora. Please take care with these items and be mindful about oils and sun creams that contain bronzers, they will stain the towels and sun loungers. Pool towels will be found in the bedrooms.
Rubbish
The housekeeper will empty the bins. However, if you have excess rubbish that you wish to dispose of, this can be put in one of the large green and blue bins on the main roads. Blue bins are for recycling and green for household rubbish. Leaving excess rubbish around may attract unwanted visitors, so please do dispose of in between the housekeeper’s visits.
3 — SCOTT WILLIAMS GENERAL INFORMATION
We go to great lengths to make sure your holiday is perfect but there are some things that are beyond our control so please take a few minutes to read through this information. If you have any concerns about the villa, on arrival or during your stay, please let us and/or the house staff know immediately so we can get on to it straight away.
Breakage and Damages – During your stay, we ask you to treat the villa as you would your own home. We are aware that accidents do occasionally happen and ask you to let your rep know promptly if anything gets damaged or broken. Please remember that you are responsible for both your accommodation and its contents, and we reserve the right to claim back the cost of repairs caused by irresponsible damage.
Furniture and furnishings – Please take care of the furniture as if it were your own and refrain from sitting on it with wet clothes or swimming costumes.
When leaving the house even for a short time, please put down parasols and secure garden furniture, cushions and mattresses, and bring everything indoors in the evening to avoid water damage from a sudden storm or overnight watering systems.
Gardens and grounds – Upkeep of the gardens and grounds is the responsibility of the owner. This may be in the form of a resident gardener or a contractor who will come in from time to time. They will endeavour to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Health and safety – some features at the villa may be a hazard during your stay. For example, infinity pools may have an unguarded drop, roof terraces and balconies may have low walls.
Maintenance – We will always try to arrange for someone to repair or replace anything in the house that is broken or damaged as quickly as possible, some things are quicker to fix than others so please bear with us if it cannot be done immediately.
Noise – We have tried to indicate such things as proximity to towns, villages, main roads, airports, etc. in the description of the villa on our website. A house in the middle of a town will inevitably get late night noise from the surrounding roads, restaurants, etc. whereas a country property might be affected by farm labourers, machinery and animals.
Whenever possible we will let you know of events or situations that might cause a disturbance, but sometimes circumstances arise which are beyond our or the owners’ control e.g. Local building works, use of machinery in the vicinity, etc. We know your holiday peace is a precious commodity, but unfortunately we do not always receive prior notice of any intended works.
Security – Please make sure that all windows are shut, and doors locked securely whenever you leave the villa, as you would do at home.
Smoking – Please be aware that all our villas are non-smoking inside.
Sun cream – Some chemical-based brands (usually advertised as being “long-lasting”), have been found to cause irremovable stains on fabric (towels, bed linen, etc). Owners politely request that P20, or similar 24hr sun creams, are not brought to any villa, to avoid unnecessary damage and costs.
Suppliers – If you are hiring a boat, moped or any other form of transport, please ensure the supplier has full insurance. A contract between you and the supplier will be constituted and Scott Williams cannot be held responsible for any complaints which arise locally. Any issues must be dealt with there and then directly between you and the supplier.
Please call first to see if restaurants or museums are open. No responsibility can be accepted by Scott Williams for any issues that may arise as a result of the enclosed recommendations.
Swimming pool – Pool safety is your responsibility, children must be supervised at all times.
Tipping – There are no rules for tipping, but tips are always very well received. A good tip for a maid or nanny would start from €50 and a concierge, host/butler between €50-100 for a one-week rental.
Utilities (water and electricity) – Many countries have less efficient electricity and water supplies than in the UK. In some cases during periods of drought, local authorities can cut mains supplies at certain hours of the day and, during peak season, demand for water can exceed supply leading to lack of pressure. Power cuts can happen during bad weather. Solar power is increasingly used as a source of energy in hot countries, particularly for hot water.
WiFi, Satellite TV and telephones – Consistent fast internet access is very much dependent on the country and unfortunately beyond our control. A satellite TV will not always offer the full range of English-speaking programs, only CNN and Eurosport may be available in English. Some of our villas are in rural locations so we cannot guarantee that there will always be a phone signal.
Wildlife – Mosquitoes, ants, wasps and other insects are found in hot countries, particularly in July and August in Europe and are attracted by the proximity of water and food. The resident housekeeper, maid or gardener will try to remove any insects or animals. For the enjoyment of your stay and for future guests, please try to keep food covered at all times, dispose of refuse properly and avoid feeding stray dogs or cats.
Wasps and hornets can be quite annoying according to the season. Unfortunately, not much can be done. There are traps set up for them and we do try to attract them there as best as we can.
Paxos has several species of snakes, the largest being the harmless grass snake. It is unlikely that you will meet any but take precautions if walking in long grass by always wearing shoes.
Jellyfish stings – In the sea, you may have the rare misfortune to meet jellyfish, especially during the late summer. Effective remedies can be purchased from pharmacies.
Sea urchin spines – Take care near rocky shorelines as it is common to find sea urchins in the rocks. We advise you to wear shoes if you are exploring. If you do stand on one, soak the foot in hot water to which some olive oil has been added. This should bring the spines to the surface, when they can be removed with tweezers or a sterilised needle. If you don’t remove them, they can cause infection.

GAIOS – On the south coast, the island capital Gaios spreads along the waterfront, with a Venetian harbour, a ruined fortress and red tiled buildings. The central square is great for people watching, with yachts of all shapes and sizes anchoring up throughout the day. The waterfront offers a selection of traditional tavernas and the relaxed atmosphere continues into the small hours. Its small back streets have some lovely shops where local produce can be found. LAKKA – At the northern tip of the island, Lakka is considered Paxos’ second port. It is a very pretty horseshoe shaped village, flanked by higher ground on each side. The bay is almost completely sheltered from the open sea, a perfect harbour for the many yachts which stop in during the summer months. Enjoy a drink in one of the waterside bars and watch the beautiful people coming in from the sea each evening. The village has always been very popular with sailors and attracts every kind of craft, from flotilla boats and weekend yachtsmen to super yachts. At night, many of the small shops are open selling jewellery and clothing, so head off to your restaurant a little early and pick up a souvenir or two.
LOGGOS – Just south of Lakka, on the east coast of Paxos, beautiful Loggos is the smallest of the three main villages. It has a picture-perfect harbour and is a great evening destination, as there are some excellent places to eat. During the day, you can pick up amazing pastries and bread at the bakery or while away a morning having breakfast at the Taxidi Bar .
MAGAZIA – Magazia is one of the oldest settlements on Paxos located in the inner part of the island with is much loved Kafenion , Bournaos and trendy Averto for the best cocktails!
FONTANA – A tiny inland hamlet near Loggos, with little more than a church, a taverna and a ‘kafenion’. This is a peaceful spot in which to escape the 21stcentury, with some charming houses, lovely walks and beaches nearby.
SHOPPING:
Early risers can buy fresh fish from the fisherman as they come in at dawn. Some sell straight from their boats, while others take their fish to the square. Numerous shops sell local produce, such as olive oil, soaps, olive wood products and honey; find Korres toiletries at the pharmacy in Gaios.
Supermarkets – there are several supermarkets and mini markets throughout the island. Bakeries and pharmacies can also be found in Gaios, Magazia, Loggos, and Lakka.
Souvenirs- Bring home your memories of Paxos whilst shopping for charming souvenirs that capture the spirit of the island. From handcrafted magnets to traditional Greek figurines. Gaios’ famed alley of trinkets has a wide selection of items that make perfect mementos of your trip.

Walking – The Bleasdale Walking Map of Paxos (which can be bought on the island) is a great reference book. There are ancient villages, beautiful churches and deserted beaches to explore.
ON THE WATER
Boat Hire – The single best way to visit the island’s numerous beaches and blue caves is by boat. Head to one of the three main villages and hire one by the day; there are several boat hire firms in Loggos, two in Gaios and two in Lakka. Boats need to be returned by late afternoon/early evening, as you cannot keep a boat overnight in Paxos. If you want to venture to Anti Paxos a 30HP engine is required.
Water Sports – At Monodendri Beach, Ben’s Bar offers “laid back” water sports: single handed dingy sailing, pedal and canoe hire; earlier and later in the season, windsurfing can also be arranged. Speak to Ben, who is behind the bar, about booking. At Levrecchio Beach, canoes and dinghy sailing boats are available to rent. Mongonossi beach over canoes and kyaks.
Snorkelling – All around the island there is fabulous snorkelling, thanks to the clarity of the water and the rocky coastline. Basic equipment can be bought in local shops. The more serious snorkelers amongst you will need to take your own equipment. ANTI PAXOS
You must go to the beautiful island of Anti Paxos! When you get there, you’ll understand why… Situated just south of Paxos, this tiny island is a sight to behold. You will marvel that you are still in Europe, the sea is a bright turquoise and the white sands are as close to the Caribbean as you will ever find in Greece. At just 3 sq.km, Anti Paxos is the almost deserted island where the Paxiots go to relax. There are no shops, barely any proper roads, and just a few beach tavernas. Most of the island is vineyard and its wine is much enjoyed by the locals, so be sure to accept a glass if offered. Anti Paxos can only be reached by boat, so catch a ride from any of Paxos’ three main harbours or go one better and hire your own. The beaches of Voutoumi (pebbles) and Vrika (white sand) are stunning, with crystal clear water providing outstanding snorkelling conditions, safe for all ages to enjoy. There is a stunning clifftop path linking the two, while to the south there are many smaller, more private coves that can be reached without too much difficulty. At the height of summer, it is advisable to arrive earlier in the day as the beaches can fill up by early afternoon.

Money & Currency Exchange- There are NO banks on Paxos, there are ATM’s throughout the island. 4 in Gaios, 1 in Lakka, and 2 in Loggos.
Communication: WiFi, Phones & Post – Gaios, Lakka and Loggos have municipal WiFi. Phone reception is good across the island.. Gaios has a post office by the main square (ask for directions) and most villages have yellow post boxes outside shops. If you need to by phone cards or stamps, head to a supermarket or the kiosk in Gaios Square.
Car Hire – If you’ve booked your car through Scott Williams it will have been through Christos at Paxos Island Rentals or Alfa Hire. If you haven’t paid for your car before arrival you can do so over the phone or visit the offices. Paxos has two petrol stations: A Shell station in Magazia and BP outside Gaios. They close for lunch but are open mornings and evenings. The shell station has a 24 hour pump available.

6 — CHECK OUT - THINGS TO KNOW FOR YOUR DEPARTURE
Check out
You will receive an email confirming your departure details and your representative will be in touch to confirm and collect any outstanding balances. We ask that you vacate the villa by 10am on the day of your departure, unless previously agreed, this is to allow enough time to prepare the villa for arriving guests.
If you find yourself with time to kill in Corfu Town before to your flight, there are a few places along the waterfront in Corfu that you can spend the day. Ask your Scott Williams representative for their recommendations
If anything has been damaged in the villa, please notify the House Managers or Scott Williams representative (if you haven’t already done so) and pay for damage directly while you are still at the house where possible.
Airport and departure tips
Please bear in mind that the sea taxi crossing from Corfu to Paxos can be disrupted on occasion due to adverse weather conditions. In this event we will use our best endeavours to keep you informed and get you to the island as safely and quickly as possible.
Please note, if you have booked to return to Corfu by sea taxi, they have a strict cancellation policy and you will be charged for a cancelled boat. They get booked up all summer long so must adhere to their departure times strictly.
Hydrofoil/Ferry cancellation charges – depending on the boat company there may be a cancellation charge. Any change to tickets will need as much notice as possible.
