1 — House Information
Wi-Fi
The house has wi-fi. The network is Villa Paloma 5G. The password is Paxi2025. There is also an extender in the kitchen, which allows the wi-fi to be reached at the outdoor kitchen and other areas in the back of the house. This network is Villa Paloma 5G Extender. The password is the same. Please do not unplug this extender. While we have made every effort to make the wi-fi useable for all areas inside and out, there is a chance that not every spot will have perfect reception. Island life! Please do not move the router from its place on top of the cabinet under the TV.
Entrance/Exit Gate
The gate at the property entrance is controlled by a remote. Push only the top left button to both open and close the gate. And please remember to leave the remote in the house when you depart Paxos. As these remotes are very difficult to replace and receive to the island, you will be asked to pay for replacement and shipping of a new remote if you inadvertently leave the island with one.
Water
There is no spring water on Paxos. Rainwater is collected during the winter months, stored in water tanks, or desalinated by the municipality. Please use water sparingly as this is a precious commodity and often in short supply, even from the municipality. Please be aware that your water consumption has a strong impact on the sustainability and environment on Paxos. Please never let the water flow unintended. Please keep in mind that there is a possibility of occasional water cuts due to water shortages in the height of summer. If the water does stop at any point, please notify your Concierge. When using the dishwasher and washing machine machines, please ensure to use full loads when possible.
BBQ
Due the strict Paxos island-wide ban on ALL open flames, it is currently NOT permitted to use the barbeque or pizza oven at all until October 31st. For updates or more information, please visit the local fire department in Magazia
Hot water
Hot water is constant, and it is heated by solar panel. In the rare occasion that there is no sun for an extended period of time, there is an electrical override. The location of the hot water heater switch is in the fuse box. Please ask your concierge for assistance in this case.
Drinking water as a general rule, it is not advisable to drink tap water on Paxos. However, both our kitchen and outdoor kitchen have been equipped with sophisticated under sink water filtering systems that purify some water for drinkability. On the taps, you will find a small lever on the left side that controls the filtered drinking water. These taps are safe for drinking, and making coffee or ice. There is a small pump under the sink that runs the filtered system. It will automatically turn itself on/off as necessary. You may hear it, but please do not touch anything related to this under-sink system.
Air-Conditioning
There are AC units in all rooms, with the exception of the kitchen. All units are operated using handheld remote controls. Please close all windows and doors when using the air conditioning. If you are not in a room for any length of time, please do not run the air conditioning. For cooler days, there is also a ceiling fan in the living room. Upon departure, please return the remote controls to their dedicated holders mounted on the walls.
Appliances
The house is equipped with all new and modern appliances, including an oven, hob, SMEG refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, drinks fridge(in the outdoor kitchen), and washing machine. There are manuals for almost all appliances located in the cabinet above the microwave. Please refer to these for any instructions. For any malfunctions, please contact your Scott Williams concierge for assistance.
TV
This a smart TV, with access to many entertainment apps. If you have an existing account to an app, feel free to login to watch your favourite programs for movies, but do not forget to logout upon departure. The remote can be found in the top left wicker drawer in the cabinet under the TV. Please do NOT attempt to move the TV from its current position, as it is connected to a stationery wall mount and does not move.
Hob
The hob is an induction-style, so it works VERY fast. Please keep this in mind, as things will boil much quicker than you might be used to.
Furniture
Indoor: Please do not take the indoor furniture or furnishings (including cushions, throws, pillow, etc.) outside, as they are only meant for indoor conditions. Also, please be kind enough not to sit on the indoor furniture in wet, swimming clothes or with freshly-applied sunscreen.
Outdoor: Please do not sit on the outdoor sofa in wet clothing or freshly-applied sun screen. And in order to protect the rattan material and pillows from harmful residues left behind by sunscreens and lotions, please always use a provided pool towel under you when sunbathing poolside on the loungers.
Wooden Floors and Jute Rugs
The floors in the living/dining and main bedroom upstairs are made of local pine. It is a beautiful, but somewhat soft wood and can be susceptible to stains, markings and scratches. Please dry off after using the pool and before walking on the wooden floors or any rugs. Please use warm water only to swiftly clean up any spillages in order to avoid stains to the rugs, or damages to the floor. Also, please no high-heels on the wooden floors.
Outdoor Dining
In the outdoor kitchen, you will find reusable plastic cups, dinnerware, serving items and dedicated outdoor flatware (in the closed basket.) Please do not take glass or ceramics to the pool area – use only the plastic glasses and dishes provided. If glass or ceramic is found in the pool, it will need to be entirely drained, which is very expensive to clean—not to mention environmentally wasteful—and refill.
Indoor Showers
Please note that in an old house, the showers sometimes have minor slow-draining issues, especially downstairs. When showering, placing the provided bath mat just outside the shower near the end of the glass wall, and running the squeegee along the floor towards the drain after you shower really helps the bathroom dry faster. Please also keep a window open during your showers to help minimize moisture retention.
Outdoor Shower
The outdoor shower has both cold and hot water capability. If you would like to take a shower outside (highly recommended!), you’ll have a nice warm one, complete with towel hooks and eco-friendly shampoo and shower gel.
Pool
Please familiarize yourself with the pool, its layout, depths and sloping areas. Please remember that the surrounding areas become slippery when wet, and as there is a steep drop-off at the far end, it is absolutely forbidden (and dangerous) to walk on the walls around the edges of the pool! Also, please do not swim after drinking alcohol or too soon after eating. Children should never be left unattended when playing in or around the pool. Never dive into the pool. Lastly, please rinse off excess sun creams and oils in the outdoor shower before using the pool. Maintenance of the pool is carried out according to necessity, at least few times a week.
Pool Lights
The lights will come on automatically between the hours of 9:30pm and 1am.
Outdoor Lights
Please turn off any outdoor lamps before going to bed (with the exception of the pump room light, step lights and pathway lanterns, as these are solar and on a timer.)
Water Fountain
The fountain contains self-recycling water and set on a timer to flow between the hours of 9am and 9pm.
Ruin
Please note that due to dangerous conditions, It is strictly forbidden to enter the small ruin structure on our property. This ruin is not of sound construction and could collapse at any moment, causing great harm to anyone inside. The owners will assume no liability for injuries or worse caused by entering this structure.
Pump Room
While this room remains unlocked for maintenance of the pool, please do not enter the pump room. It tends to stay damp, it is inadvisable to store any personal items in there. Also please note that the SUPs (Stand-up Paddleboards) and other water-related gear located in the pump room are strictly for the owners’ use only. If you would like to SUP, there are several places on the island that rent (Kaki Lagada, for example) or even offer SUPs for free (Ben’s Bar, for example.)
Smoking
Smoking is absolutely NOT permitted inside the house. Please be cautious when smoking outside. Due to the extreme dry weather and high temperatures, there is currently a strict ban on any open flames, including matches or cigarette lighters, on Paxos.
Cats and Dogs
Please do not feed stray cats and dogs or let them inside the house. If you choose to feed a stray cat during your visit, please deposit the food at the cat feeding station next to the trash bins at the end of our road, where it meets the main road. Alternatively, a donation to PAWS (the local animal welfare organization) is a great way to contribute to the well-being of these animals.
Rodents
Mice and rats live in the olive trees on Paxos. Please do not leave food around, especially outside and keep all doors closed and window screens down in the evenings and at night.
Washing
Please make sure all laundry is well secured either on the clothesline or on the drying rack, especially in the afternoon. The winds pick up and can easily turn over the drying rack. If using the drying rack, place a stone on the bottom of the stand and keep it out of the wind.
Candles
Please do not use candles on the dining room table and no naked flames. The lamps and furniture are very flammable. As open flames of any kind are currently prohibited on the island of Paxos, the large votive candle holders in the outdoor dining cubby are equipped with battery-operated LED candles.
Imperfections
As with any old stone house, the exterior walls sometimes “breathe” slightly during temperature changes. This can cause superficial cracks in the walls, which are not of any concern.
Locking up
Although Paxos is generally safe, we asked that whenever you leave thehouse, you ensure that all window screens are down, all doors are locked, and the air conditioning, fans and lights are switched off.
Neighbours
Even though they are not visible, we do have neighbours who are locals. Please be respectful of noise, especially at night, as sound travels very easily throughout the island. (You will sometimes even be able to hear the live music from nearby Bournaos or Erimitis Bar…a nice result of this!)
Wind and Weather
The wind can be very strong, especially in the afternoons and can start blowing abruptly. Please close parasols on the terrace when not in use and NEVER leave any breakables outside unattended. Leaving the umbrella’s open and unattended also pose safety risks. Please bring in outside cushions if it looks like rain. If parasols are left open and unattended to, we will have to ask you to pay for any damage incurred and for any broken umbrellas or property.
Fire Safety
Please take time to familiarize yourself with the house exits located nearest to your bedroom. There are fire extinguishers located by the back patio door in the kitchen, inside the closet in the downstairs bedroom, and under the pizza oven outside

House Manager
Dora is the property manager, please do feel free to contact her in the unlikely even of any villa issues. + 693 640 1900
Housekeeper
Irena is the housekeeper and she will visit three times, including changeover day. Irena is responsible for the bedrooms, bathrooms , rubbish, and keep the outdoor areas swept and tidy. Towels will be changed mid – week, usually on Wednesdays.
Linens
Due to the extreme lack of water on the island this year, we are asking guests to tolerate only towel exchanges mid-week instead of full bed linens. Of course, exceptions can be made as needed upon request. Please shower off excess sun creams and oils before going to bed.
Rubbish
Irina will empty the bins. However, if you have excess rubbish that you wish to dispose of this can be put in the large green and blue bins on the roads. Leaving excess rubbish around may attract unwanted visitors so please do dispose of in between Irina’s visits.
3 — SCOTT WILLIAMS GENERAL INFORMATION
We go to great lengths to make sure your holiday is perfect but there are some things that are beyond our control so please take a few minutes to read through this information. If you have any concerns about the villa, on arrival or during your stay, please let us and/or the house staff know immediately so we can get on to it straight away.
Breakage and Damages – During your stay, we ask you to treat the villa as you would your own home. We are aware that accidents do occasionally happen and ask you to let your rep know promptly if anything gets damaged or broken. Please remember that you are responsible for both your accommodation and its contents, and we reserve the right to claim back the cost of repairs caused by irresponsible damage.
Furniture and furnishings – Please take care of the furniture as if it were your own and refrain from sitting on it with wet clothes or swimming costumes.
When leaving the house even for a short time, please put down parasols and secure garden furniture, cushions and mattresses, and bring everything indoors in the evening to avoid water damage from a sudden storm or overnight watering systems.
Gardens and grounds – Upkeep of the gardens and grounds is the responsibility of the owner. This may be in the form of a resident gardener or a contractor who will come in from time to time. They will endeavour to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Health and safety – some features at the villa may be a hazard during your stay. For example, infinity pools may have an unguarded drop, roof terraces and balconies may have low walls.
Maintenance – We will always try to arrange for someone to repair or replace anything in the house that is broken or damaged as quickly as possible. Some things are quicker to fix than others, so please bare with us if it cannot be done immediately.
Noise – We have tried to indicate such things as proximity to towns, villages, main roads, airports, etc. in the description of the villa on our website. A house in the middle of a town will inevitably get late night noise from the surrounding roads, restaurants, etc. whereas a country property might be affected by farm labourers, machinery and animals.
Whenever possible we will let you know of events or situations that might cause a disturbance, but sometimes circumstances arise which are beyond our or the owners’ control e.g. Local building works, use of machinery in the vicinity, etc. We know your holiday peace is a precious commodity, but unfortunately we do not always receive prior notice of any intended works.
Security – Please make sure that all windows are shut, and doors locked securely whenever you leave the villa, as you would do at home.
Smoking – Please be aware that all our villas are non-smoking inside.
Sun cream – Some chemical-based brands (usually advertised as being “long-lasting”), have been found to cause irremovable stains on fabric (towels, bed linen, etc). Owners politely request that P20, or similar 24hr sun creams, are not brought to any villa, to avoid unnecessary damage and costs.
Suppliers – If you are hiring a boat, moped or any other form of transport, please ensure the supplier has full insurance. A contract between you and the supplier will be constituted and Scott Williams cannot be held responsible for any complaints which arise locally. Any issues must be dealt with there and then directly between you and the supplier.
Please call first to see if restaurants or museums are open. No responsibility can be accepted by Scott Williams for any issues that may arise as a result of the enclosed recommendations.
Swimming pool – Pool safety is your responsibility, children must be supervised at all times.
Tipping – There are no rules for tipping, but tips are always very well received. A good tip for a maid or nanny would start from €50 and a concierge, host/butler between €50-100 for a one-week rental.
Utilities (water and electricity) – Many countries have less efficient electricity and water supplies than in the UK. In some cases during periods of drought, local authorities can cut mains supplies at certain hours of the day and, during peak season, demand for water can exceed supply leading to lack of pressure. Power cuts can happen during bad weather. Solar power is increasingly used as a source of energy in hot countries, particularly for hot water.
WiFi, Satellite TV and telephones – Consistent fast internet access is very much dependent on the country and unfortunately beyond our control. A satellite TV will not always offer the full range of English-speaking programs, only CNN and Eurosport may be available in English. Some of our villas are in rural locations so we cannot guarantee that there will always be a phone signal.
Wildlife – Mosquitoes, ants, wasps and other insects are found in hot countries, particularly in July and August in Europe and are attracted by the proximity of water and food. The resident housekeeper, maid or gardener will try to remove any insects or animals. For the enjoyment of your stay and for future guests, please try to keep food covered at all times, dispose of refuse properly and avoid feeding stray dogs or cats.
Wasps and hornets can be quite annoying according to the season. Unfortunately, not much can be done. There are traps set up for them and we do try to attract them there as best as we can. Paxos has several species of snakes, the largest being the harmless grass snake. It is unlikely that you will meet any but take precautions if walking in long grass by always wearing shoes.
Jellyfish stings – In the sea, you may have the rare misfortune to meet jellyfish, especially during the late summer. Effective remedies can be purchased from pharmacies.
Sea urchin spines – Take care near rocky shorelines as it is common to find sea urchins in the rocks. We advise you to wear shoes if you are exploring. If you do stand on one, soak the foot in hot water to which some olive oil has been added. This should bring the spines to the surface, when they can be removed with tweezers or a sterilised needle. If you don’t remove them, they can cause infection.

Map of Paxos

GAIOS – On the south coast, the island capital Gaios spreads along the waterfront, with a Venetian harbour, a ruined fortress and red tiled buildings. The central square is great for people watching, with yachts of all shapes and sizes anchoring up throughout the day. The waterfront offers a selection of traditional tavernas and the relaxed atmosphere continues into the small hours. Its small back streets have some lovely shops where local produce can be found. Please consult your Unmissable guide for our recommendations.
LAKKA – At the northern tip of the island, Lakka is considered Paxos’ second port. It is a very pretty horseshoe shaped village, flanked by higher ground on each side. The bay is almost completely sheltered from the open sea, a perfect harbour for the many yachts which stop in during the summer months. Enjoy a drink in one of the waterside bars and watch the beautiful people coming in from the sea each evening. The village has always been very popular with sailors and attracts every kind of craft, from flotilla boats and weekend yachtsmen to super yachts. At night, many of the small shops are open selling jewellery and clothing, so head off to your restaurant a little early and pick up a souvenir or two.
LOGGOS – Just south of Lakka, on the east coast of Paxos, beautiful Loggos is the smallest of the three main villages. It has a picture-perfect harbour and is a great evening destination, as there are some excellent places to eat. During the day, you can pick up amazing pastries and bread at the bakery or while away a morning having breakfast at the Taxidi Bar .
MAGAZIA – Magazia is one of the oldest settlements on Paxos located in the inner part of the island with is much loved Kafenion , Bournaos and trendy Averto for the best cocktails!
FONTANA – A tiny inland hamlet near Loggos, with little more than a church, a taverna and a ‘kafenion’. This is a peaceful spot in which to escape the 21stcentury, with some charming houses, lovely walks and beaches nearby.
SHOPPING:
Early risers can buy fresh fish from the fisherman as they come in at dawn. Some sell straight from their boats, while others take their fish to the square. Numerous shops sell local produce, such as olive oil, soaps, olive wood products and honey; find Korres toiletries at the pharmacy in Gaios.
Supermarkets – there are several supermarkets and mini markets throughout the island. Bakeries and pharmacies can also be found in Gaios, Magazia, Loggos, and Lakka.
Souvenirs- Bring home your memories of Paxos whilst shopping for charming souvenirs that capture the spirit of the island. From handcrafted magnets to traditional Greek figurines. Gaios’ famed alley of trinkets has a wide selection of items that make perfect mementos of your trip.
Koo Concept Store – in Gaios, Koo is an utter surprise. A two- story boutique filled with beautiful clothes, shoes, handbags, and decorative items for your home, mostly curated by Greek designers. Gaios +30 26620 32151.
Il Pareo Boutique – This shop sells lovely handbags, clothes and jewellery. There are two shops, one in Gaios and one in Lakka next to Harbour Lights.

Antigoni’s – Antigoni has great taste and keeps an amazing shoe selection! Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lakka.

Sarah’s Shop ( The Gecko Shop) – Sarah has lived on Paxos all her life and has a lovely shop in Loggos. She imports delightful bowls and jewellery from India as well as selling local pots and amazing olive wood bowls created in unusual shapes (this stuff would sell for far more in Anthropologie!).

Walking – The Bleasdale Walking Map of Paxos (which can be bought on the island) is a great reference book. There are ancient villages, beautiful churches and deserted beaches to explore.
ON THE WATER
Boat Hire – The single best way to visit the island’s numerous beaches and blue caves is by boat. Head to one of the three main villages and hire one by the day; there are several boat hire firms in Loggos, two in Gaios and two in Lakka. Boats need to be returned by late afternoon/early evening, as you cannot keep a boat overnight in Paxos. If you want to venture to Anti Paxos a 30HP engine is required.
Water Sports – At Monodendri Beach, Ben’s Bar offers “laid back” water sports: single handed dingy sailing, pedal and canoe hire; earlier and later in the season, windsurfing can also be arranged. Speak to Ben, who is behind the bar, about booking. At Levrecchio Beach, canoes and dinghy sailing boats are available to rent. Mongonossi beach over canoes and kyaks.
Snorkelling – All around the island there is fabulous snorkelling, thanks to the clarity of the water and the rocky coastline. Basic equipment can be bought in local shops. The more serious snorkelers amongst you will need to take your own equipment. ANTI PAXOS
You must go to the beautiful island of Anti Paxos! When you get there, you’ll understand why… Situated just south of Paxos, this tiny island is a sight to behold. You will marvel that you are still in Europe, the sea is a bright turquoise and the white sands are as close to the Caribbean as you will ever find in Greece. At just 3 sq.km, Anti Paxos is the almost deserted island where the Paxiots go to relax. There are no shops, barely any proper roads, and just a few beach tavernas. Most of the island is vineyard and its wine is much enjoyed by the locals, so be sure to accept a glass if offered. Anti Paxos can only be reached by boat, so catch a ride from any of Paxos’ three main harbours or go one better and hire your own. The beaches of Voutoumi (pebbles) and Vrika (white sand) are stunning, with crystal clear water providing outstanding snorkelling conditions, safe for all ages to enjoy. There is a stunning clifftop path linking the two, while to the south there are many smaller, more private coves that can be reached without too much difficulty. At the height of summer, it is advisable to arrive earlier in the day as the beaches can fill up by early afternoon.
LOCAL TIPS
Money & Currency Exchange- There are NO banks on Paxos, there are ATM’s throughout the island. 4 in Gaios, 1 in Lakka, and 2 in Loggos.
Communication: WiFi, Phones & Post – Gaios, Lakka and Loggos have municipal WiFi. Phone reception is good across the island.. Gaios has a post office by the main square (ask for directions) and most villages have yellow post boxes outside shops. If you need to by phone cards or stamps, head to a supermarket or the kiosk in Gaios Square.
Car Hire – If you’ve booked your car through Scott Williams it will have been through Christos at Paxos Island Rentals or Alfa Hire. If you haven’t paid for your car before arrival you can do so over the phone or visit the offices. If you find your vehicle lacks power going up hills, it may help to turn off the air-conditioning.
Paxos has two petrol stations: A Shell station in Magazia and BP outside Gaios. They close for lunch but are open mornings and evenings. The shell station has a 24 hour pump available.
TAXIS: in the height of the season, ( July and August) it’s best to pre book taxis where you can. Your Scott Williams rep is happy to do this for you.

Check out
You will receive an email confirming your departure details and your concierge will be in touch to confirm and collect any outstanding balances. We ask that you vacate the villa by 10am on the day of your departure, unless previously agreed, this is to allow enough time to prepare the villa for arriving guests.
If you find yourself with time to kill in Corfu Town before to your flight, there are a few places along the waterfront in Corfu that you can spend the day. Ask your Scott Williams concierge for their recommendations.
If anything has been damaged in the villa, please notify the House Managers or your concierge (if you haven’t already done so) and pay for damage directly while you are still at the house where possible.
Airport and departure tips
Please bear in mind that the sea taxi crossing from Corfu to Paxos can be disrupted on occasion due to adverse weather conditions. In this event we will use our best endeavours to keep you informed and get you to the island as safely and quickly as possible.
Please note, if you have booked to return to Corfu by sea taxi, they have a strict cancellation policy and you will be charged for a cancelled boat. They get booked up all summer long so must adhere to their departure times strictly.
Hydrofoil/Ferry cancellation charges – depending on the boat company there may be a cancellation charge. Any change to tickets will need as much notice as possible.
