If the handle is facing skyward, it allows the window to open at a tilt so you can leave them open whilst you are out. If the handle is across the window the door opens inward. If the handle is down, it locks the door.
To open the left side of the window, look at the side of the frame, there is a red handle. Pull up towards the inside of the house and it releases the catch at the bottom. When the door is open return to its original position and then do in reverse to close the door. Please do not leave the windows/ doors open when it’s windy and let them bang against furniture.
